Event Spaces at The National Museum of the American Indian

Even though Earth Day has come and gone, there is one museum that perpetually pays tribute to the very spirit of environmental preservation.  The Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) highlights the lives and culture of Native Americans, a people who took great strides towards respecting mother nature.  The museum, located inside the opulent Alexander Hamilton US Customs House at 1 Bowling Green, encompasses the grandueur and decadence of the early 20th century.  This 450,000 square foot 7-story building was constructed in 1907 for the US Customs Department.  The collosal landmark museum can accommodate anywhere from 10-1,500 guests for private events.  Below is a breakdown of the different event spaces.
 
The Rotunda
The White Marble rotunda is a site to behold.  Majestic murals of shells and sea creatures line the rotunda walls.  The rotunda’s arches and columns support an astounding 140-ton skylight!  The space can accommodate up to 1,000 guests for cocktail receptions.
 
The Collectors Office
The Collector’s Office is ideal for medium sized luncheons or dinner receptions.  The opulent oak-paneled Tiffany walls add a special warmth to the room.  The Collector’s Office can accommodate 80-200 guests.
 
The Auditorium
The Auditoriium houses a 14X24′ projection screen and a 16X38′ stage.  Attached to the auditorium are 4 meeting rooms.  The Auditorium can comfortably seat up to 325 visitors.
 
The Diker Pavilion
The Diker Pavilion is the epicenter of major film and dance events at the museum.  This contemporary space can fit up to 500 guests.
